Thankful Thursday – Depth

I am thankful that nature isn’t flat.  God created things to have depth and beauty.

As people, the temptation is to live shallow lives in the name of convenience.

He calls us on into more beautiful depth…and reminds us with every sunset that He creates depth for a beautiful purpose.

Beautiful Depth

Beautiful Depth

 English Standard Version
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18

Thankful Thursday – Camera Flaws

I was reminded today that

Beauty is found in the messy parts of life.

Hannah’s post so eloquently captured what has been stirring within me.

Read it here.

For a while now, I’ve been debating if I should

post my camera fails

to show you

that

I

am

not

perfect.

WHAT?!

😉

Hannah pushed me over the edge.

(Hugs and a huge thank you to her!)

Enjoy my camera flaws and remember,

the flaws don’t detract from the beautiful time I had ensconced

in nature, shooting up a storm.

Today, I am thankful for the beauty that is found in the messy and the flawed.

Thankful Thursday – Rock “Island” Beauty

Ever have one of those days when you wrestle

with identity?

It’s a battle to keep your shoulders back and your face uplifted?

The days when you find yourself

comparing your insides

to other women’s

outer appearance?

In this shot I recently took,

nothing is smooth or perfect.

The beauty is found when the rugged and rough meets

the serenity

of the water.

Beloved,

Find your beauty

by

drawing near

to the serenity.

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 27:4 ESV

Rock "Island"

Rock “Island”

I am thankful for His invitation…to simply gaze upon the beauty around me which reflects

His beauty.

I am thankful that He is worthy of my gaze,

and that somehow,

when my gaze is fixed on Him,

His beauty is reflected through me…

scars, rugged edges and all.

Headlands International Dark Sky Park

We were only able to visit

the park

during the day, but

it was well worth the visit!

The beauty in this park is far-flung on a grand scale!

The Headlands International Dark Sky Park

just received

approval for an incredible

project, which you can read about here

We cannot wait to visit again…after dark, so we can capture

even more incredible shots!

Below are some of the daytime

photographs

that resonate with beauty.

Enjoy!

Sometimes Saturday

Sometimes, Saturday holds mystery and beauty

interwoven with

fun and laughter.

This picture

was taken

at

Saugatuck Dunes State Park

a while ago, when

a cold front met

a warm front.

We were swimming as a family when we noticed the fog rolling in. The mystery only added to the beauty as we joked that we were in the middle of our own real life Thriller.

Thankful Thursday – Travel

I have the heart of a wanderer.

I love exploring, and recording snippets of beauty.

But most of all,

I am thankful for untouched beauty that refreshes your soul and

reminds you to simply BE,

no matter how far or where we travel.

The gallery below

reveals some more of the beauty that

James and I discovered on our most recent adventure.

Be still and enjoy.

The “Mighty Mack”-inac Bridge

Confession: I get a bit overwhelmed at times by beauty, even man-made beauty.

I can’t fathom throwing all of these photographs online as if they were a

deluge of beauty.

So, here is the first snippet of the grandeur found at the Mackinac Bridge…and yet another reminder of how small we are,

until we work together for significant things.
