About

Gracie K. Harold is a ghostwriter name. It is taken in order to protect the innocent…and the guilty.

I survived an abusive relationship; and my children and I fled. I have adapted our menus to accommodate life-threatening food allergies. I have survived a traumatic brain injury, amnesia, and debilitating migraines. I have mourned the losses of two different pregnancies, and been devastated by my grief. I have survived the deaths of those who were close to me. I have learned how to be a single parent while balancing my personal needs. I have survived the doubts and anger that I have openly expressed as I questioned God and wrestled for answers. I have been overwhelmed by goodness. We have learned to trust again, and continue to learn as we blend two families into one. Now, I am simply learning how to let go of my preconceived idea that I must survive the “good”; instead, I am learning how to embrace the Good…and rest.

My book, “Across the Street From Normal”, chronicles my journey into accepting Goodness.

  1. A tough road but you’re embracing the good. I suffered from a traumatic head injury a few months ago and have horrific headaches. I’m still in recovery phase. It’s a difficult road. I read a post about you relearning tasks, same with me. I also suffer from memory loss. I’m in awe reading this. Thinking wow, “I know how she felt” excuse me, I’m a bit speechless. Thanks for sharing

    • Lana, I am so sorry to hear about your injury. The headaches/migraines are the worst! I remember on more than one occasion when the children ran water in our metal sink; I would double over and vomit from the pain that the noise caused. I will be praying for your recovery. It is a long journey. If you need any tips, recipes, or someone to commiserate beside you; please feel free to email me. I am so glad that I could encourage you at least a bit! Hopefully, Gracie

  2. Hi Gracie, l am so sorry to hear of your loss and grief. But, I am glad you and your children are safe now. I will be praying for your allergies and migraines. My wife has migraines from time to time, so I know what that looks like. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for the follow. May Christ richly bless you! Timothy

    • Dear Timothy, thank you for the kind words! My husband and I will be praying for your wife’s migraines; and also for the two of you as you continue on in your journey! May God’s richest blessings be on you and yours as well!

    • Thank you, Sasha, for the encouraging words this morning! I really enjoyed reading your blog posts and being reminded of the days where sticky little hands, whirlwinds of energy, and sloppy kisses ruled my minutes. My mantra always was, “It came to pass…It came to pass, not to stay…. ;)” Praying for you as you journey on through the day(s). Love, Gracie

  3. Wow, you are incredible. You are one strong woman to have gone through all that. I see that you wrote a book. I haven’t clicked on it yet, I will. But can you tell me what it was like writing it and how you published it. I have also written my story. The first three chapters are on my blog’s about. I just don’t know how to publish it. Any ideas. Meghan

    • I had some friends who walked me through self-publishing, and then graciously donated editorial hours to get my manuscript print-ready. We used “createspace”, but I have also heard good things about iBooks. The things to consider about self-publishing, though, are mainly that you are your own marketing and promoting department. I would advise that you assemble every person that you can think of to help you promote and edit your book. =) Best wishes in your endeavor, let me know if you have any other questions. Love, Gracie (P.S. the manuscript was about 4 years in the making).

  4. Hello Gracie, so sorry to read about the pain you experienced in your first marriage. Substance abuse is a horrible, horrible thing. You are a survivor, and seem to be finding your happiness once again! Thank you so much for following my blog. I hope that you will find some recipes to enjoy.
