Thankful Thursday – Broken Background, Life Emerging

“Broken Background, Life Emerging”

Trauma, death, grief, and pain

all tempt us to remain

stuck in that moment of brokenness.

They have no hold on us unless

we choose to remain

frozen in the pain

and fear of that day.

Instead, there is a way

that leads to life and joy

if you stop playing coy

with your identity, the true one.

You are a beloved daughter, a dearly loved son.

Lift up your gaze,

emerging from the haze

of dead dreams and grieving pain

is the One whose LOVE will always remain.

Empty promises He will never make,

but He walks with you for His Father’s sake.

Fix your eyes on Him,

surrender your pain.

Let your brokenness fade to dim,

and a true friend you will gain.

I am thankful that my broken background does not disqualify me from my true life emerging.

  1. Very beautiful. We are all broken and scarred in so many ways by this life, yet we have God and He loves us as he Loves the Son. What greater hope in life can you possibly have. 🙂 Thank you for taking that hope and turning it into courage to share your stories with us all!

  2. Yes, Gracie.

    I love this quote:

“There is a fine balance between honoring the past and losing yourself in it. For example, you can acknowledge and learn from mistakes you made, and then move on and refocus on the now. It is called forgiving yourself.” -Eckhart Tolle

    Simple. truth.
